Kylie Jenner is a Self-Made Billionaire. Why People Debating that Fact?
When You are debating, She keep making money
Kylie Jenner, 21, is now officially named as the youngest ever self made billionaire, surpassing Mark Zuckerberg which aged 23 when making his first billions. Forbes even features her in the cover last July. Since that month, the words “self made” gone viral.
People on the internet argue that Kyle didn’t deserve that. It is kind of make sense since she comes from wealthy and well-known family. Some told that she got the advantage being a sister of Kim Kardashian.
Whatever it is, we should focus on the “billionaire,” not the “self-made.”
From Model to Cosmetics Giant
Like any other Kardashians, Kylie got her fame from reality TV series “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” The series become a massive success, bringing some fortunes to the family members, including Kylie.
Kylie, and her older sister Kendall, soon became teen icons. They started their career as models and being influencers in social media. She recently became one of the top 10 most followed celebrities on Instagram. But, one business which bring in her billionaire status is her own lipstick line ‘Kylie Lip Kit’ and hair extension line ‘Kylie Hair Kouture’.
She Rides Her Fame
Believe it or not, Kardashian-Jenner family is built upon a controversy. Because of it, everything this family do, it will eventually become a headline. Everything they did is featured in many media, and they got famous over time. And Kylie is riding it well.
She clearly sees fame as an asset. She builds her Instagram followers from the day she realizes she is a teen icon. Her audiences grew even more after she jumped into a model.
A famous TV personality, a model with millions of followers, Kylie didn’t stop there. She built her cosmetics empire started under “Kylie Lip Kit” brand. The lipstick worth $29 and has sold more than $630 million since, including an estimated $330 million in 2017. Forbes values her company at nearly $800 million. And more surprisingly, Jenner owns 100% of it.
Kylie praises social media as her success factor. “Social media is an amazing platform,” Jenner says that in one interview with Forbes. “I have such easy access to my fans and my customers.”
Kylie Cosmetics proves that she is a great business person. Her company consists of just seven full-time and five part-time employees. She outsources manufacturing and packaging to Seed Beauty, in nearby Oxnard, California. She uses Shopify to handle sales and fulfillment. Her business has minuscule overhead and marketing costs, so the big profits are going right into Jenner’s pocket.
What she brings to the company is the asset we already know, her well-known personality. She periodically takes selfie to Instagram and Snapchat, with with “informative” captions about which Kylie Cosmetics she used for that selfie. With over 110 million followers on Instagram and millions more on Snapchat, that strategy works brilliantly. It is kind of massive but targeted ads to million of people.
Verdict: She is Self-Made Billionaire
Kylie Jenner is a self-made Billionaire. I have no doubt about that.
Simple reason: not many well-known models can make near a billion fortune. Not many actors or actresses can build a success company. Not many people can leverage social media the way Kylie Jenner did to Kylie Cosmetics. And these are enough for calling her as a youngest self-made billionaire.
People can always debate Forbes about this but the spreading buzz like this is the exact asset she uses the best.
